Happy Place

After spending about 30 hours inside reading “Catching Fire” and “Mockingjay,” I began feeling confined and had to get out of the house. I bundled up, grabbed my iPod, and drove downtown. I parked the car and made for Skinner’s Butte, about a 5 minute walk. I had only ever been to the summit twice before, both relatively late in the evening. As it was only 9PM, there were quite a few cars at the flagpole with couples taking in the view of downtown/East Eugene. Looking for a little bit of solitude, I decided to explore some of the paths that traverse the butte. My efforts were rewarded as I found a vista overlooking all of West Eugene. Perhaps because I had just recently read the “Hunger Games” trilogy I felt inclined to climb a tree, where I sat for about an hour. Just myself, my music, and a spectacular view.
